Chippewa Nature Center

The Chippewa Nature Center is a 1,348-acre private nature center, open to the public year-round. Its mission is to help people enjoy and learn about the environment, as well as to inspire and teach them how to be responsible stewards of the land, water and air.

In the Visitor Center, the Ecosystem Gallery offers hands-on exhibits that will answer your questions about rivers, wetlands, fields and woodlands and get you up close to some exciting sights and sounds of nature.

If you’re looking for history, you’ll enjoy two wall murals, depicting Native American life long ago as well as a full size birchbark canoe. Children especially enjoy the “Kids Conifer Corner.” This reproduced huge white pine tree is full of puppets, books, puzzles and more!

Feeders in the Wildlife Viewing Area provide food for many birds, squirrels and other critters, which you can see through one-way windows from comfortable benches.

The Visitor Center is open Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, Saturday
9am-5pm, Sundays and holidays, 1-5pm. Hiking trails are open every day dawn to dark. The other buildings are open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 1:30-5:00pm every Sunday afternoon with staff and volunteers on hand to answer your questions, give tours of the farm and lead a variety of hands-on activities.
