DeTour Village Area

Visit the Detour Village area in the Upper Peninsula where the "Huron, Michigan and Superior Meet," you won’t be disappointed!

DeTour Village Area

DeTour is surrounded on three sides by water: Lake Huron, the St. Mary's River and the DeTour Passage. DeTour is a great location for boating, hunting, fishing or just getting away and watching the freighters pass by. The fishing is fantastic and is widely regarded as one of the best salmon fisheries in the state; perch, pike, walleye, herring and sport fish are also easy pickings.

Dedicated to improving local culture, society and proving that there is more to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan than hunting and fishing, the DeTour Village area sponsors plays, winter/summer concerts, local artists, community choir, youth scholarships, work shops and many other functions. So if the arts, culture or history is your interest, they’ve got it all.

The DeTour Village area has miles of beaches, some sandy, where you rarely see another sunbather. There are several waterfront picnic areas and the "northern-most" Botanical Garden in Michigan all with views of passing freighters.

In the winter, you will find over 50 miles of groomed, woodsy and scenic local snowmobile trails with views of the river and Canada.

A visit to the DeTour Reef Light is worth the trip alone. Built in 1931, offering tours, river tours, a lighthouse keepers program and much more.

Come to the U.P. for a visit, just hang a right and drive 15 miles north of the Mackinac Bridge, on M-134 and follow the signs to DeTour Village.
