If you think you know your way around the Great Lakes states, here’s your chance to prove it and possibly win a great prize.

Meet Pete, the Backyard Excursions Mystery Destination P.I. He will lead you closer and closer to the mystery destination by revealing a new clue each week to help you unmask the secret location.

The mystery destination is located somewhere within the Great Lakes states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana or Ohio) or Ontario, Canada.

One thing we will guarantee you; the Mystery Destination IS listed in the current issue of the Backyard Excursions Travel Ideas Resource Guide and here on this website! There—we have practically given you the answer!

Congratulations to our Fall 2009 Winner
The winner of the Fall 2009 Mystery Destination Contest was Judy Hundt of Michigan City, Indiana, State who correctly identified Thunder Bay Resort in Hillman, Michigan as the Mystery Destination. The Hundt family won an elk viewing and dinner package for two and one night stay at the Mystery Destination in a whirlpool suite.

If you can correctly identify the secret location, you could win a wonderful trip to our mystery location. The prize package (total value of $220.00 US) includes:

  • One night stay for two at the Mystery Destination's original hotel
  • Dinner for two at the Mystery Destiantion's world-class steakhouse.

The winner will be randomly selected from all correct entries received by midnight March 1, 2010.

Be a Backyard Excursions’ Mystery Destination Private Eye

  • New clues will be posted once a week, so be sure to visit often to pick up important clues.
  • You may enter as many times as you like.
  • The winner will be randomly selected from all correct submissions received by midnight March 1, 2010. The winner's name will be randomly drawn at noon on March 2, 2010. The winner’s name will be posted on this website.
  • To enter the contest, you must be a legal resident of the United States and at least 18 years of age. Official Rules.
  • Winner will receive via US Mail a gift certificate provided by the mystery destination. Winner is responsible for making arrangements directly with the mystery destination.
  • All questions and comments regarding the prize must be made directly with the destination. Backyard Excursions is not responsible for any issues arising from this matter.
  • Accommodations are subject to availability. All taxes are included. Incidental charges such as phone calls, gift shop purchases, recreation charges, additional meals beyond those included in the package, alcohol, tips and baggage handling, if applicable, are not included and are the responsibility of the winner. Transportation to and from the destination are not included.
